SWIGA Approved Installer Status

In February 2013, Sustainable Building Services (UK) received confirmation that has been recognised as an Approved Installer member of the Solid Wall Insulation Guarantee Agency (SWIGA).

SWIGA’s role is to provide domestic customers with an independent guarantee for solid wall insulation systems. These can be external,  internal or hybrid solutions.

The SWIGA guarantee dovetails with the requirements of the Green Deal and the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) but it only applies to SWIGA approved installers who are using SWIGA-accredited  solid wall insulation systems such as those made by Permarock Products, Weber and Wetherby Building Systems.

The guarantee provides up to 25 years of cover for defective materials, design or workmanship, and up to £20,000 to cover the cost of corrective work and damage to the building. Other benefits include:

  • Installers being overseen by an independent third party
  • The guarantee may be carried over to subsequent owners or tenants of the property
  • It pertains to all suitable properties of four storeys or less

SWIGA notes that the “installation of solid wall insulation is a proven, reliable process and has been established for over 25 years. The SWIGA Framework and Guarantee provides additional peace of mind and access to technical expertise in the event of any defect arising in the design, workmanship or materials.”

The guarantee costs £125 per property and the installer will apply for it on the client’s behalf once the work is finished and payment has been made. It will then be sent direct to the client.
